Finally! Volume 2 is in the works! Please forgive the delay! I took a bar exam, moved cities, went to Africa, etc……but these are inadequate excuses.
Here we are – we received over 200 submissions for volume 2 and we are so humbled and enamored with what are, truly, works of art. We regret that we cannot publish everything we received. We thank yall from the bottom of our hearts for trusting our journal with pieces of your soul. If your work was not selected, please, PLEASE, submit in the future.
The first weekend, Maida, Emily, Amelia, and Georgia convened at my house to discuss prose. The next weekend Alexandra, Sarah, Caitlin, and Ellen gathered to discuss poetry. We have not yet sorted through the beautiful visual submissions, but below is a photo gallery of the committee meetings and the lists of what we will publish in volume 2.
Please note that great discussion went into the selection of each piece. We mainly evaluated the pieces in terms of how they spoke to our souls. But, we also thought about how the work would fit together to create a journal that continues to represent the voice of the modern, spunky, southern belle. The work we love and selected is not always the most polished, but it is soulful and that is what our journal seeks to explore.
Without further ado, enjoy the photos and the list of selections. We will post visual submissions soon.
Thank you for creating and for sharing.
